BUD "KNUCKLES" KOWALSKI #44
Left Wing · Hartford Beauties · 1980-1991
Acquired from the Binghamton Dusters in 1980 for "future considerations" (widely reported to be a case of Labatt Blue). Knuckles was 6'4", 228 lbs of unquestioned loyalty and absolute violence. His last goal was March 3, 1981. He did not care. His job was to make sure nobody touched Laser, The Kid, or The Mayor, and for 11 seasons nobody did. Three broken orbital bones (two his, one the other guy's). Off the ice: coached youth hockey for free every Saturday, drove the team van because he was the only one who could parallel park it, and never once missed a teammate's wedding. Nicest guy you'd ever meet. Unless you touched his goalie.
