Chase Worthington III grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. His father was a banker. His mother
chaired the garden club. They wanted him to play lacrosse at Deerfield. He wanted to play hockey
with guys named Knuckles.

His hair was genuinely magnificent. Golden, flowing, shampoo-commercial-level lettuce that poured out of his helmet like a waterfall. It bounced when he skated. It caught the light. Opposing fans came
early to watch warmups just to see it. He had a sponsorship deal with a West Hartford salon called
"Shear Magic" that paid him $200 a month in free product. It was the most anyone on the Beauties
made from an endorsement.

His hockey was fine. Not great, not bad, fine. He moved the puck well, took good angles, and rarely
got burned. But nobody came to see his gap control. They came to see the flow. Vic Tartaglia once
described a Worthington rush as "a golden retriever on a breakaway" and it became the most accurate scouting report in franchise history.
